Disable Your Browser's Built-in Password Manager

Most web browsers include built-in password management that prompts you to save passwords for sites that you visit. 1Password, Keeper Password Manager, or Zoho Vault is a much more secure method of storing passwords. After you install Password manager, disable your browser's built-in password management feature to avoid confusion and enhance security.   

Safari

  1. Click the Safari menu and choose Preferences.
  2. Click the AutoFill icon.
  3. Turn off all the AutoFill settings: “Using info from my contacts,” “User names and passwords,” “Credit cards,” and “Other forms.”

Chrome

  1. Click the Chrome menu in the toolbar and choose Settings.
  2. Click Passwords.
  3. Turn off Offer to save passwords.

Firefox

  1. Click the Firefox menu in the toolbar and choose Options.
  2. Click Privacy & Security.
  3. Uncheck the box next to Ask to save logins and passwords for websites.

Microsoft Edge

  1. Click the Settings and more menu and choose Settings.
  2. Scroll to the bottom and click View advanced settings.
  3. Scroll to the Privacy and services section and turn off Offer to save passwords.

Internet Explorer

  1. Click the Tools menu and select Internet options.
  2. Click the Content tab.
  3. In the AutoComplete section, click Settings.
  4. Turn off “Forms and Searches” and “User names and passwords on forms,” then click OK.
